OUR STORIES

SUSTAINABLE MAXPAX CUPS

All our Cups are manufactured here in Great Britain. The Paperboard we use is from sustainable Certified Timber sources. So we know that the timber is replanted in a way to ensure the Planet is protected from being stripped of resources for the future of our children and the eco system of Plants & Animals that ensure our very existance.

Of course we must not forget the keen Gardeners who collect our empty Cups especially in the Spring when planting up their pots. If growing Tomatoes they just plant the entire Cup into a bigger Plant Pot and the Tomato Roots would grow through the Cup using the Cup as a source of extra nutrition.

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURE

In our factory we manufacture the Maxpax Cups right here in Great Britain, but we also have a roof full of 78 Solar Panels which are generating electricity. This in turn is either being used to manufacture Cups or is being sent to the National Grid to support other Businesses and Homes reduce global warming by reducing the use of fossil fuels.

By the end of June 2025, 9 x Tesla Powerwall 2’s, will be storing energy from the Sun to help even more to power the Cup Manufacturing machines. Each day some solar power will top up the batteries and all day on Saturday & Sunday. This will mean plenty of power available on Monday from both the Solar panels and the Batteries.

HOW LONG HAVE MAXPAX CUPS BEEN MADE

Although it sounds unbelieveable the Production of Maxpax Incup Drinks goes all the way back to May 1973. Our Managing Director still has a file with Pricing history for the Drinks and even Machines going back as far as May 1973.  Which is 50 years ago.
So Maxpax was definitely ahead of the curve on looking after the environment using Paper Cups (NOT PLASTIC).

LOOKING AFTER THE ANIMALS

For a great number of years here in the United Kingdom. Maxpax used to supply almost ALL facilities like Zoo’s, Wildlife Parks and other outdoor venues where there were large animals, because for example an Elephant , Rhino or Giraffe could easily eat a Cup. This could be potentially deadly to a large animal like a lion, if it was a PLASTIC Cup it could become stuck inside the animal resulting in major surgery to remove it, whereas the Maxpax Paper Cup was digested and passed through. This meant less risk to the likes of Safari Parks and other Wildlife Centres.

Maxpax Instant Coffee, Leaf Tea, Chocolate, Soup & Savoury. Cups made by us.

A Maxpax Cup, is a 7oz (200ml) Drink which is like a Breakfast Cup of liquid. Not too much yet just enough to refresh you but not overload your system. Everywhere we see take-away Cups getting larger and larger 12oz, 14oz, 16oz which is far to much for most people. This results in half consumed Cups being discarded. Which if it is a milky latte will smell and become very unpleasant if you are then person who empties the bin.

Another interesting point is that our Maxpax Coffees, Maxwell House, Kenco and Douwe Egberts are ALL instant Coffees. Which again is helping the Planet. Most people in the U.K. drink instant coffee at home.  They also mainly drink takeaway Lattes & Cappuccino because the espresso shot is to strong for them. The Big Brand Instant Coffee manufacturers are expert at extracting the maximum amount of coffee liquor from the Coffee Beans (Robusta or Arabica) then blending it into a smooth taste suitable to suit the majority of people in the U.K. The likes of Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero and the hundreds of other Espresso takeaways take some beans grind them pop them into a group extract just 1 cup of Coffee then discard the remaining grout of coffee which is very wasteful not good for the planet and also expensive.
